When I started working in the family company in 1980 we had our own internal freight infrastructure. Sometime around the early to mid 90’s management decided a freight contractor would be implemented to meet the needs of the growing bale numbers as the business continually grew. Starting with the Temora local Graeme Crawford (in his infamous GM powered “bird scarer”). When Graeme retired the company was served by Larry Purcell and when Larry retired to Neil Hitchener. All of these people provided a comprehensive, efficient and dedicated freight services to Moses & Son clients. More recently Chris and Tammy Heffer have been our inward freight contractor to Moses & Son and other Brokers. This service has worked alongside our own fleet of smaller trucks, in Temora Wagga, Narrandera and West Wyalong. These smaller trucks have been driven by our staff, to provide timely movement of the smaller loads from farm to store complimenting the services of Heffer Transport.
In recent years Moses & Son management have examined the efficacy of this model. After exhaustive analysis and strategic planning, it was resolved that to maintain the Company values and provide a dedicated service for the future needs of our clients we needed to merge the large and small bale number freight numbers for a number of reasons.
After exploring all possible solutions we are proud to announce the introduction of a dedicated and complete inward freight service for our for our clients commencing on the 1st October 2021.
Our Client Freight Service will be owned and operated by Moses & Son and be dedicated to inward wool bale freight. Our goals are:
• To emulate the best features of all of the freight companies
• To focus on the highest WHS standards
• Meet emission standards of the future (latest technology)
• Add value to our clients enterprises
• Reduce the wait times from notification to delivery (thus reduce the time from shearing completion to sale)
