In 2016 we started an initiative called Butts for Buck$, aimed at giving back to the community and those that support our Cash Wool Service. The concept was effective in its simplicity, for every kilogram of wool that we purchased through our Rehandle, we would pay the owner the value of the wool and then give a donation to their chosen charity or club based on the weight of the wool. Since its inception the Butts 4 Buck$ program has continued to grow with over 90 organisations registered and benefitting from their piece of the $100,000 cash donation.
The donations have gone towards supporting many local people receiving cancer treatment, upgrades of sporting facilities and equipment. Additional funding of scholarships for rural kids, welfare programs and schools, plus many more great causes.
We appreciate how hard committees work and want to continue to support them in the good work that they do. We love this program but unfortunately the current Wool Market is seeing record low prices for Crossbred wool, with some wools having no commercial value. Thus the new era of Butts 4 Buck$ has been born and from the 1st July 2022, we will now donate based on the gross proceeds of the wool to the nominated charity or not-for-profit organisation.
